This year, Study Group and insendi have combined their expertise to develop an Academic English Skills (AES) online module, providing students with the thorough training in language and related academic skills needed to achieve their academic potential at the university of their choice. The AES module offered by Study Group and powered by insendi has now been shortlisted for the QS Reimagine Education E-Learning Award for the best electronic learning project to facilitate and support learning through the use of information and communications technology.

We have witnessed the Covid pandemic seriously obstruct the education of international students, many of whom would traditionally travel to the UK to undertake an AES module as part of a Pathway Program. The online format of the new AES course overcomes this disruption and harnesses insendi’s technology to connect international students with expert teachers offering support in preparing for university or the workplace. The course focuses on building skills in reading effectively and critically, making notes in lectures and presentations, delivering presentations and participating in academic seminars, researching, planning and writing academic essays and developing the accuracy and range in written and spoken language required for students to express themselves with confidence.

Working in partnership with learning technology experts, insendi, Study Group has leveraged proven pedagogical research with innovative technology to deliver the very highest standards of online education to international students. Offering the AES module online provides access to high quality preparation and teaching to secure the best outcomes for students from anywhere in the world, laying the foundation for high attainment in future study.

The insendi platform enables students to gain new knowledge; it allows the application of new skills; and has the potential to act as another teacher. The technology continues to be built upon in response to the needs of learners, developing unique and innovative learning activities in response to the subject matter being taught and the techniques needed to enhance teaching.

Study Group and insendi will both present to the QS Reimagine Education Conference in December.
